Artania Red is a complex blend of five red varieties that creates a multi-layered portrait of Ukrainian terroir. Merlot (30%) and Tempranillo (30%) form the wine's foundation, Pinot Noir (21%) brings elegance and berry freshness, Cabernet Sauvignon (13%) adds structure and aging potential, while the rare Bulgarian variety Rubin (6%) — a crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah — completes the blend with spicy, complex notes.
The grapes are hand-picked in mid-October, when the berries have reached full phenolic ripeness. Each variety is fermented separately in small stainless steel tanks, allowing the winemaker to unlock each grape's potential with maximum precision. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine is pressed, settled, and transferred to French and American oak barrels for a minimum of 6 months of aging. Each variety is barrel-aged separately, and only then does the winemaker compose the final blend.
Tempranillo is a rarity in Ukrainian winemaking — this Spanish variety is better known as the backbone of Rioja. And Rubin, a variety bred in Bulgaria back in 1944, is an even greater curiosity, demonstrating how atypical grapes can find a new voice on the Black Sea coast.
