Lerici is a white wine from the Beykush Historical Series, made from 100% Timorasso. The name belongs to a 14th-century Genoese fortress, a historical landmark near the winery. The choice of the rare Piedmontese variety Timorasso for this wine is a direct link to the Italian heritage of the region, as the Genoese were among the first Europeans to establish themselves on this coast. Previously, this wine was released under the name "Fantasy."

Timorasso is an exceptionally rare white grape from Piedmont that is experiencing a renaissance even in its homeland. Beykush is one of very few producers outside Italy working with this variety. The grapes are hand-picked at the beginning of October, when they reach full ripeness.

After harvest, the berries undergo cold maceration for 12 hours at 4°C, which allows for delicate extraction of aromatic compounds from the skins. The grapes are then pressed, and the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 17°C. After fermentation, the wine is racked off the gross lees and aged on fine lees for 4 months with regular batonnage, then transferred to French oak barrels for 15 months of aging. This combination of lees work and oak maturation produces a wine of expressive texture and mineral character.

Tasting Notes

Pear in honey, apple, an almond-caramel note, everything dusted with dried flowers and spice. This white is made from the rare Timorasso grape, grown in Piedmont. It has settled into the Black Sea coast while keeping every ounce of its elegance, intellect, and affinity for grilled sea fish.
