Arbina is an orange wine from the Beykush Historical Series, made from 100% Rkatsiteli. The name belongs to an ancient Greek settlement from the first millennium BC, located on Berezan Island, near the winery. The choice of the Georgian variety Rkatsiteli and amphora-based production methods is a symbolic link to the millennia-old winemaking traditions of this region.
This is an orange wine — white Rkatsiteli grapes made using red wine techniques, with extended skin maceration. The grapes are hand-picked in the second half of September. 40% of the total volume is dried in special containers to 270 g/l sugar (appassimento technique), while the rest is processed fresh.
Production combines several vessel types: fresh grapes are fermented and macerated for one month in concrete amphoras by Italian producer Drunk Turtle; dried grapes are fermented in clay amphoras by Spanish master Joan Miro and in small open-top oak casks, also with one-month maceration. After pressing, settling, and racking, all batches are aged separately in French and American oak barrels for 27 months. Only then does the winemaker create the final blend. The combination of partial appassimento, three vessel types, and extended oak aging makes Arbina one of the most complex wines in the Beykush portfolio to produce.
