Beykush Red is a single-varietal wine made from 100% Pinotage, a South African grape rarely found beyond its homeland. The vines were brought from South Africa and planted on a site between the Buzskiy and Berezanskiy estuaries, where dark chestnut loamy soils and the steppe climate with sea breezes create conditions for Pinotage unlike its traditional range.
The grapes are hand-picked at the end of September at the optimum stage of maturity. After table sorting, the berries are crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22°C. Once alcoholic and malolactic fermentation are complete, the wine is pressed, settled, racked, and aged in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.
Aging exclusively in steel — without oak — is a deliberate choice that preserves the pure varietal character of Pinotage. Without oak influence, the wine conveys the Black Sea coast terroir in its most direct form.
